Description: The learning menu, which can be accessed by clicking the button above, is designed to provide students with more personal freedom in how they are assessed for understanding of the unit. Students with different ways of learning will therefore be able to select the activities that suit them best. There are a variety of activities for students who are more creative, visual, or students who prefer more traditional written work. The activities provided in the menu cover a range of thinking levels, including understanding, analysis, evaluation, and creativity. Many of the activities give students the opportunity to go back and revisit concepts in greater detail.
From the list, students will select a total of 3 activities to do. Students will get to freely choose 2 activities from the learning menu, but one activity will be mandatory and will be unmistakably identified in the center. However, even this mandatory activity gives students a free hand in selecting the topic they would like to cover in the assignment and in what specifics they would like to include in it. The scoring guide for this activity can be found just above the description. The learning menu should be implemented at the end of the unit, as it is unit-wide and will serve as a review of content that has mostly been covered in lessons.
